Our Staff
Ian McBride – Partner and Clinical Lead
BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy – University of the West of England (2004)
MCSP 71551
HPC PH68997
Working in the NHS until 2006, Ian made the move into Private Practice, setting up McBride Physiotherapy in Scunthorpe. The Brigg Clinic followed in 2010 and now in 2011 McBride Physiotherapy has opened its doors to Isle of Axholme population with its latest clinic in the centre of Epworth.
As a Sport Science BSc Hons graduate prior to training as a Chartered Physiotherapist, Ian has a particular interest in lower limb running related injuries, biomechanical gait analysis, general sports injuries and manual therapy. Ian also specialises in the prescription of shoe orthotics to assist in lower-limb and low-back injuries / pain.
Ian is currently studying towards his Masters degree in Orthopaedic Medicine which he should complete in November 2011.
When he’s not studying or working, Ian likes to clear his head with a ‘little blast’ on his beloved motorbikes, or a cross country run around the off road routes of North Lincolnshire. Alternatively, encouraging his 4 year old to cycle without her stabilisers is just as big a passion.
Helen McBride - Partner and Practice Manager
BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy – University of the West of England (1997)
MCSP 57737
HPC PH53470
Helen joined McBride Physiotherapy full-time in 2008 to provide the Neurological / Care of the Elderly service to the practice. Prior to being whisked away to North Lincolnshire by her husband, Helen worked in the NHS as a Senior Neurological Physiotherapist in a number of settings both in the UK and overseas.
As the Practice has grown and expanded Helen has taken on more of a Practice Management and Business Development role. Never happier than when she’s sat with graph paper, pencil and a ruler (‘old school’) Helen has played an integral part in the design, development and promotion of all 3 clinics. She is the main point of contact for all business / administrative issues.
Helen maintains her clinical skills providing neurological physiotherapy in the community.
Outside of work, Helen juggles the wife / housewife / mother roles ...... and then consumes a large glass of red!
Claire Smith – Senior Physiotherapist
BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy – Leeds Metropolitan University (2006)
MCSP 77019
HPC PH78457
The most recent member of physiotherapy staff to join McBride Physiotherapy, Claire brings a wealth of NHS experience and a whole lot more in terms of enthusiasm.
Like Ian, Claire achieved a degree in Sports Therapy before training to become a physiotherapist. She has already developed her manual skills through post graduate courses and will be accessing peer support via our ongoing ‘In Service Training’ scheme at McBride Physiotherapy.
Claire’s positive attitude and engaging personality make her a popular practitioner, and her commitment to her profession makes her the kind of physio that gets results. We are very glad she has joined us.
Always full of energy, Claire does not sit down for long out of work hours – when she’s not rock climbing or running she’s engaging in extreme sports challenges...... But when she manages to harness her adrenaline long enough she likes nothing better than a touch of baking!
